EUROPEAN HEADLINES

BBC Europe Paris: Violent protests after French police kill Chinese man. Violent clashes in Paris over the police killing of a Chinese man have left three police officers injured and several people detained. Demonstrators had gathered outside a police station on Monday to pay homage to the slain man. His family denies police reports he attacked an officer with a sharp object as they responded to reports of a domestic dispute at his home.

FRANCE

France’s audit.

In its supplement, Les Echos assesses France’s reform, the country’s taxes and expenditures, President Hollande presidency’s failures, the new faces of the Hexagon, the threats on CAC40.

GERMANY

Berlin fears Brexit tremors.

In an internal analysis the Federal Ministry of Finance warns of distortions on the financial markets which the exit of the Brits could cause. Wolfgang Schäuble’s experts advocate interim solutions – and rigour with regards to the EU budget.

ITALY

Renzi’s pressure over Budget: no taxes, and no to EU.

Negotiations to get 10-billion discount, but Commission not giving in over reforms Matteo Renzi (PD Secretary) is putting pressure on Prime Minister Gentiloni for a mini-Budget without taxes, and with the goal of a discount of €10 billion from the European Commission. However, the Commission is demanding clear commitments over reforms.

POLAND

Is this a beginning of a new European Union?

Poland signed the Rome Declaration.

SPAIN

Finances are recovering in the first months.

Growth was 7% in January and February and the trend maintains. The State would enter almost 13,000 million additional. The minister considers it “feasible” to meet the 3.1% deficit forecast for this year

BELGIUM

Europe wants to make its youth travel.

The European Commission has unlocked €2.5 million to finance the travels of about 5,000 youngsters across Europe. The means of travel will be “offered” to all of those starting, alone or with their class, a European educational project. The European Parliament would have preferred a permanent InterRail pass.

CZECH REPUBLIC

More complicated to buy an apartment on mortgage.

The mortgage market in Czech republic is coming to an end.

GREECE

PORTUGAL

Government yields to Brussels to close Novo Banco

State will have no votes and no managers. Bank will have new goals on redundancies and closure of branches. Deal to be signed on Thursday.
