BBC EuropeBlow for Merkel as coalition talks fail. Talks on forming a coalition government in Germany have collapsed, leaving Angela Merkel facing her biggest challenge in 12 years as chancellor. The free-market liberal FDP pulled out after four weeks of talks with Mrs Merkel’s CDU/CSU bloc and the Greens. FDP leader Christian Lindner said there was “no basis of trust” between them.

Johanna confronted her tormentors at university

Civil engineering student Johanna Mannung is one of 1,139 women who has signed the #teknisktfel protest against sexual harassment within the tech industry. She commented that during her studies at the Royal Institute of Technology, she witnessed everything from rape culture, groping and discrimination of women. Mannung said that she hopes that both men and women now realise that this is a huge societal issue which exists in all walks of life.
