BBC Europe Catalonia crisis: Protests over detention of deposed leaders. Several major roads and some rail lines in Catalonia have been blocked by pro-independence activists as part of a day of planned action. Protesters, some carrying separatist flags, are demanding the release of the region’s deposed leaders and activists. A general strike has been called but the major unions say they will not join it.
