BBC EuropeMacron declared ‘winner’ of final debate. French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron appeared to cement his position as the front-runner after his clash with far-right rival Marine Le Pen in Wednesday evening’s final TV debate. French pundits, newspapers and a highly regarded viewers’ poll all declared the centrist candidate the most convincing.

May accuses EU of swaying vote

British prime minister’s comments come as bloc official toughens negotiating position.

Macron – Le Pen: two France face to face

At the heart of the debate between the two ballots, two profoundly different visions of France and Europe, opposed the two candidates.

ITALY

Le Pen-Macron confrontation in view of the second ballot

The three-hour TV duel between Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron in view of the second ballot of the French Presidential elections was extremely harsh. Ms Le Pen is still behind Mr Macron (40%-60%) and she abandoned all forms of political correctness, trying to “go for broke”.
